Rode the Wake

Great overall game after a horrific start. Nothing worse than fumbling the opening kickoff (which at least they accepted- never did that much in the TOB era) then throwing a pick that gets returned for a TD as the first play from scrimmage. 14 seconds in- down 7 points. UGH. Not much better when letting Wake roll downfield to go up 14-0 early in the first quarter. The natives were getting anxious until the first sign of hope appeared. The ticker flashed the Appaliachian State score over Michigan. Coach Jags then got the troops in line and started the comeback. It was great to see them go for the two bombs down the left side challenging the DB and going for the points befre the half. Never saw action like that with 'Mr no headphones-no personality- No way was this group going any further- TOB'.

Defense slowly started to strangle the life out of Wake's offense and really clamped down once they broke the 40. Big 4th quarter stand by the D to stop the Deacons on a 4th and short. The game was what the fans wanted- plenty of O timely D and a big W on the schedule.
